Guitar Hero on iPhone?
After a conversation over lunch tomorrow about Guitar Hero on the iPhone, I had to laugh when I saw this mod for Tap Tap Revolution.
When can I plug the guitar in?

Today Google took the wraps off the first offline version of their web-based Office suite. Utilizing the Google’s Gears platform has allowed “Docs” to go offline. Presumably the Spreadsheet and Presentation formats will be coming soon.
I found the nifty Build Last.fm site to a be a great source of Last.fm toys. I’m currently using a few of the Last.fm charts on the sidebars of my site, but now I have the awesome LastGraph printed out and hung on my wall.
Today, Apple unveiled the latest version of Safari web browser. What’s new? Not just the speed- Apple says Safari loads web pages 1.9 times faster than Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 7 and 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2 & JavaScript executes up to six times faster than other browsers. But more importantly, this is the first browser to support the new video and audio tags in HTML 5, first to support CSS Animations, introduces support for CSS Web Fonts and support for integrated client-side database storage via offline SQLite database.
Go HTML 5!
Freeverse has posted a teaser for “Flick Sports” a series of games for the iPhone. Apparently they just couldn’t wait until the big SDK reveal tomorrow and have some Wii-esque plans in mind-
Golf, Bowling, Soccer, and Baseball and Moto Racing are all in the lineup utilizing the iPhone’s multitouch flick and pinch gestures.
Apple’s iTunes is now the number two music retailer in the United States. Only Wal-Mart is selling more music. This stat is based on the latest data from the NPD Group.
- 50 million customers
- 4 billion songs sold
- 20 million songs sold on Christmas Day 2007 alone
- 6 million songs available
update: A great quote from NPD’s Russ Crupnick on the #1 retailer: “Wal-Mart does not pose any serious obstacle in an increasingly digital music market. Digital sales were up close to 50 percent and CD sales were down 20 percent last year. Even at half that growth rate in digital sales, Apple will in all likelihood catch Wal-Mart this year.”
DoubleTwist is the latest venture from the infamous DVD Jon. On his blog, he posts:
“The goal of doubleTwist is to simplify the flow of media across devices and social networks. To give an example: say you shot a video with your Nokia N95 cellphone. How do you send that video to your friend and make sure he’ll be able to play it on his iPod or Sony PSP? Yesterday, the easiest solution was to give up. As of today, the answer is doubleTwist. With doubleTwist, you’ll be able to share and sync digital media without worrying about codecs and bitrates.”
I’m curious to see how well he supports encrypted media like iTunes Music Store files and for how long he’ll play the inevitable cat and mouse game with Apple and others.
MacAlly’s BTKeyMini
This mini Bluetooth keyboard is designed for the iPhone. It could be really useful if coupled with Mobile Google Docs.

DisplayLink USB Multi-Display Adapter for Mac
This product is amazing. I saw it demoed with four external monitors hooked up to a Mac Mini. The potential here for MacBooks and Mini’s is tremendous.
Code42’s CrashPlan Pro
This backup product brings the excellent CrashPlan to the enterprise level. Ever wanted to run your own CrashPlan Central? Well, now you can.
It’s about time. An iPhone Trojan has been unveiled. The mastermind- an 11-year-old kid.
But seriously, the first Trojan attack is going by the name of “113 prep.” Once launched, the app displays “shoes,” then causes damage to or deletes system-critical files in the /bin directory on the iPhone.
Today, BusinessWeek is reporting that Sony BMG has agreed to offer music for sale without DRM. Of course it was only last week when Warner added DRM-free tunes to Amazon’s MP3 store.
The music should be available for Amazon’s 1 billion song MP3 Superbowl promo with Pepsi.
No more rootkits, I suppose.
