According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple Corps may release Beatles songs for Rock Band. The best-selling albums have yet to be released in any online digital format.

Releasing music in a video game before other online media outlets would certainly be an interesting move. Let’s hope they hit iTunes sometime soon-
update: The Beatles have confirmed a gaming-focused release of their music through a deal with Harmonix (Rock Band maker) and MTV.
The creators of the Shazam iPhone app say that 20 million iPhone requests have been made for song identification on the company’s servers. This is 2-3 look-ups per person, per week vs. 3-5 times per phone on other platforms.
Is this solely due to the success of the iPhone platform or could it be that they charge money for these lookups on every other platform?

Apple released iTunes 8.0.1 tonight. This release “fixes bugs and improves stability.” Big surprise there!
But, there is one great new feature- shifting from the current song to the Genius playlist is now seemless. No more audio restart after hitting the Genius button.

The Sun UK is reporting that Led Zeppelin may be coming to a city near you with a new singer. Not only that, but: “LED ZEPPELIN frontman ROBERT PLANT is to be given an ultimatum by his bandmates.”
Apparently the Plant stand-ins are actually better than the aging original.

Music Week is reporting that Apple will be launch an a new app to add exclusive content the iPhone and iPod Touch for the upcoming Snow Patrol album. Many have cited these types of exclusive features as some of the last remaining benefits to physical CDs. The app will come in the form of an interactive booklet, containing exclusive videos, photos, lyrics and artwork.
