Getting ExpressionEngine to ping useful sites

It isn’t difficult to setup ExpressionEngine to ping useful sites.  EE natively supports any XML-RPC service.  The three most useful to me are Bloglines, Google Reader & Feedburner.

Go to:

CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Default Ping Servers

And enter the following URLs:

http://www.bloglines.com/ping
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://ping.feedburner.com

Github takes a creative dive offline

Github uses a nifty YouTube embed when their site goes down.

“We’re down for maintenance. We’ll be back shortly (until then, enjoy this GitHub-approved video).”

Thanks to David Steinberger over at ComiXology for the snap.

Delta filtering Wi-Fi on the plane

I was wondering how long this would take.  Delta came out and said that it will be filtering its Aircell Wi-Fi plane service.

This content filter will automatically block adult sites and other material that might “make some passengers uncomfortable” from cellphones, notebooks and other Wi-Fi devices.

Surprising that they’re not targeting filesharing and other “objectionable content.”

LinkedIn is sorry

Sorry, we can’t display this page right now. (Not that our homepage isn’t important to our userbase or anything…)

I’ve seen this error several times before, but actually got a screengrab this time.  Thanks for keeping it around, LinkedIn.
