Leopard, why can’t you behave?

The latest in my epic struggle with Leopard.  Now, on my Mini!

Apparently Time Machine in 10.5.2 does not like my Intel Mac Mini environment.  At the time of posting, I only found one other reference to my latest Leopard error: “Backupd Waiting for index to be ready.”  I’m hoping that there will be more…

For the record, here’s what I was seeing for 18+ hours in my console:

I spoke to Apple support about this issue and they suggested the following course of action:

1. Disable Time Machine

2. Delete the Spotlight index on the external drive

3. Allow Spotlight to rebuild the index

4. Re-activate Time Machine

I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

I’ve removed the following files and spotlight is now correctly indexing my drive.  (Note: clearly these all aren’t necessary, but these are the ones I removed.)

mini:LaCie Disk 2 dfbills$ ls -al
