Getting Firefly Media Server working

May 24, 2008 (early afternoon)

Awesome tutorial on getting Firefly Media Server working on the 1.1.4 iPhone by Rupert Gee.

The problem boiled down to the fact that it was built pre-“mobile” user and a simple configuration line needs to be updated.  I’ve got fresh music streaming for the weekend now directly off my iPhone.

To install:

1.) Install UIctl.app

2.) Install FireflyMediaServer

3.) Launch UIctl.app and load org.fireflymediaserver.mt-daapd

4.) Go into web-based configuration and change this line:

/var/root/Media/iTunes_Control/Music

to

/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Music

5.) Enjoy
