SolarWinds have blown over the web server
January 20, 2009 (the wee hours)
Not too comforting to find an application error in the website of a network security package you are about to evaluate. SolarWinds needs a lesson in .Net application security. Quite the verbose error message for a hacker looking to get started.

Thanks for the post, dfbills. As part of SolarWinds Marketing Operations group, I work to ensure our Customers (and potential customers) have a simple, straightforward process for evaluating our products.
The error message you encountered was related to the way your Registration information was processed on our website – it appears a timeout in the Registration Form was not handled well. Because we’ve recently revised our Registration process, this error is new, and is being addressed now.
Happily, this has nothing to do with the LANsurveyor product you were evaluating. Since its launch in 2007, we’ve continued to emphasize LANsurveyor’s functionality AND stability. Any errors – including errors downloading from our website – are unacceptable.
Thanks again for the heads up.
